OBOP Organization
Teams

We have identified a large number of teams, and in almost all cases someone has already stepped forward to be a "team leader" to coordinate the efforts of that team. See Camp for a list of teams and leaders. Please join one or more teams to contribute!

Newbies/Playa buddies
If you are new, we ask that you identify a "playa buddy", someone who has been with OBOP at Burning Man in the past, and can give you an idea of what to expect, how to prepare, how to deal with crises, etc. Please, playa buddies, don't take on more than one newbie.

We ask the playa buddy to know what team(s) you will be on and to work with the team leader to help the newbie get integrated.

The Council
The purpose of the OBOP council is to:

• agree on basic policy issues such as membership, dues, meetings - deal with inevitable "personality" issues (as wisely as possible)

• guide OBOP in action and spirit, keeping an eye on the big picture

The council is open to anyone who has been at a previous OBOP camp. Hopefully it will remain a small enough group to allow every voice to be heard and still make decisions efficiently.

Last Wednesday's meeting was a beautiful example of group wisdom. Controversy lead to the use of a "talking stick" and difficult either/or decisions morphed organically into a kind of concensus that seemed to feel good to all involved.

Councillors at the meeting included Natasha, Sherry, Rocky, Steve J, Johnny de Sura, Jaye, and Darakshan. Fred is also on the council but was not able make last weeks' meeting. A few others who were around joined in discussions at this meeting - Robbie, Peter, Michael, Shael.

The council plans to gather every other week until Burning Man. If you want to join us, please let me know.

Communication

DarakshanFarber will continue to send e-mails like this out to our OBOP mailing list (which now has 88 subscribers, though only about 50 are currently signed up for this year). Anyone on this list is free to e-mail to the whole list, but you must do so from the e-mail account that the list sends to.

SherryEdwards is gathering dues and will track "who doesn't read e-mail" so we can find an alternate way to keep folks up-to-date. Robbie and Diana have agreed to call around to get info from everyone about their plans this year. It would make their lives easier if you would edit the ObopMembers page yourself to let us know your contact info and plans.

RussellWebb has agreed to update our website, http://www.obop.org. We'll let you know when stuff (like this) is up there.
