Since this is an especially green year, it is worth mentioning our Bio-Diesel GenSet, massive grey water evaporation system, organic garbage dehydrator and shared clean water. Approximate Space Needed: ------------------------ ['100', '250'] Approximate Space Needed: ------------------------ 100 ft. by 250 ft. Number Of Campmates: ------------------- 40 to 49 Arrival Date: ------------ Aug. 25 Number and Type of Vehicles: --------------------------- Approximately 4 cars, 10 RVs, 3 campers, 2 trucks, and 2 trailers Alternative Power: ----------------- We are renting a large silent bio-diesel genset to be shared with our neighbors. As we have done the last several years, we expect to extend this service to additional neighbors, in order to improve efficiency and cost and to reduce noise. We also will use low wattage lighting and solar systems where possible, and minimize the use of air conditioning in RVs to reduce fuel consumption. Generators: ---------- 1 large (exact size still TBD) bio-diesel generator. Physical Description: -------------------- This year, OBOP's camp will have three major structures facing the playa. The largest, a converted circus tent, will be a space for workshops in the daytime and performances in the evening. A scaffold up its center will serve as a prop for performers and dancers, a place to hang lights, and the support of a small viewing platform above the tent. The tent will be decorated on the inside to feel as if one is under the canopy of a tree. A second tent will replace our traditional "god throne" with a more appropriate lush area for the deity who speaks to those at the phonebooth. The tent will be open to the playa in a way that allows the speaker to see the phonebooth. The third structure will consist of a heavy bamboo tipi. also with a viewing platform at the top, decorated as a woman. Called "mother earth", she will interact with a design atop the circus tent. We would like to share the "flailing zone" with our neighbors at the Department of Tethered Aviation (DOTA). In addition to these structures, our frontage will include a shadow dancing area and our trading "bureau of pleasure". Across the esplanade, we will place a charging station for our two mutant vehicles and a pair of Balinesian gongs available to the public. Behind the public area, we will have space for a number of RVs and campers, a covered area for tent campers, a covered area for tent campers, and a community kitchen. We use a swamp cooler to eliminate gray water and cool our shared interior space. We hope to share a dining space, water, a shower area, and gray water processing with our neighbors, DOTA, Monkey Puzzle, and Buddha Camp. Like last year, we have plans to rent a large, quiet and efficient biodiesel generator. We will share this power with our neighbors listed above, and with Camp I Am. Ideally we will also make it available to other nearby neighbors, reducing the need for RV generators and other noisy and dirty power mechanisms. Interactivity Description: ------------------------- Our philosophy has always been to be totally hospitable and to make our guests comfortable and happy. We offer a playfully creative, open, slightly spiritual but fun environment. In our main tent, we have interactive classes (such as yoga, theater sports, contact improv, and singing) during the day and live music and dancing at night. We plan to have a fashion show specifically for "repurposed fashions" - costumes whose elements were never intended to be used for clothing. The main tent and the Mother Earth structure will also have small viewing platforms accessible by ladder. We continue to offer the ever-popular "Talk to God" phonebooth. This year we plan to replace the throne by a cushioned nomadic tent, encouraging more intimate relaxed conversations between the deities and passersby. Across the street we have interactive Balinesian gongs where we park our mutant vehicles for viewing and recharging when they are not cruising the playa. The Bureau of Pleasure (a dresser and mirror) is a place for people to "take a pleasure, leave a pleasure" and always gets a lot of action. We intend to be greeters on opening night and will host a block party on Tuesday night. We constantly clean up and try to gently teach our campers and our guests the etiquette of the playa. We plan have a crew of at least eight people inspect and clean the camp, road and Playa area across from our camp; this generally takes a good 2-3 hours.', 'The majority of our camp members are veterans to the Playa, so we have considered waste management in all of our planning. Again this year, a great deal of our food will be prepared in advance and stored so very little trash will accumulate.', 'The design of our theme camp art has taken the Playa conditions into consideration, especially the wind. We will not have any decorations that can be blown away in the Playa dust storms we have grown to love. We have already decided on what gets burned and what gets taken home. We have plenty of vehicle space for trash and recycling.', 'The majority of our grey water will evaporated by a swamp cooler and/or shared processing facilities with our nieghbors. We also bring empty 55 gallon drums in case of emergency. If necessary we can use RV tanks and in emergency have our grey water tanks pumped during the week.', 'We will replicate last years successful internal recycling program for bottles, cans, and paper.', 'A printed version of the Earth Guardian\'s Cleanup Plan Basics and Leave No Trace Philosophy will be distributed to our members. We will educate our first-timers to the "don\'t let it hit the ground" approach to LNT, and this year we are asking our members to sign an "agreement" that clearly outlines their role in this process.')
