NOTE 1: our original application asked for 200' of frontage by 400' deep. This was a mistake. The plan only requires 100' of frontage by 400' deep (and includes space for the Blinkingman camp).
NOTE 2: our original application indicates that this camp uses amplified sound. We want to reiterate that our intention is to have accoustic music and non-amplified activities, and amplification will be used rarely and never be loud.
Cleanup Plan
This year our group is big enough to designate a team of four camp members to a cleanup crew. We are prepared to leave our own campsite completely free from MOOP. We also plan to inspect and clean the road and Playa area across from our camp. Peter Raducha is the leader of the cleanup team.
The majority of our camp members are veterans to the Playa, so we have considered waste management in all of our planning. Again this year, a great deal of our food will be prepared in advance and stored so very little trash will accumulate.
The design of our theme camp art has taken the Playa conditions into consideration, especially the wind. We will not have any decorations that can be blown away in the Playa dust storms we have grown to love. We have already decided on what gets burned and what gets taken home. We have plenty of vehicle space for trash and recycling.
The majority of our grey water will be collected in the RVs in our camp. We hope to get our grey water tanks pumped during the week to relieve the burden. We also have three fifty-five gallon water containers and several five-gallon containers that can be filled with grey water to be taken off the Playa.
A printed version of the Earth Guardian's Cleanup Plan Basics and Leave No Trace Philosophy has been distributed at our planning meetings. We will educate our first-timers to the "don't let it hit the ground" approach to LNT.
